The Ballistic Cart: A Lab Problem

ballistic cartHere's an example of a lab-type problem that you can do for practice. You can check your answer with the key when you're finished.

The problem is number 44 at the end of Walker Physics, Chapter 4. Read the problem carefully to make sure you understand what is being asked for. Note that the launch speed is not the initial vertical velocity component. You'll need to take measurements from the photograph. Click here for a large version that you can print. Do the following:

  1. Measure appropriate distances on the photo.
  2. Determine the scale factor, and convert distances on the photo to actual distances.
  3. Implement your method to meet the goal of the problem.
