The goal of our project was to create liquid oxygen, and taking advantage of its paramagnetic properties, capture images of its splashing, hopefully affected by magnets placed near the splash. However, due to time restrictions and the difficulty of working with liquid oxygen, we had to reconsider our objectives. Instead of being able to capture high-speed images, we decided to document our methods for the creation of liquid oxygen, as well as demonstrating the paramagnetic properties that inspired our use of it for this project. We attempted many different methods for this project, most of which did not work, but from these failures we learned much, possibly more than we would have learned had we been immediately successful. We learned many things during the weeks we spent on this project, which will be included in our documentary. We hope that our attempts will be of use to others that wish to work with liquid oxygen.
We worked on this project from April 8, 2003 until May 28, 2003.
