The High Droppers

The goal of our project was to study the phases of bubble formation.  This was done by dropping water from a great distance, 2 meters, into a container of water.  We used a high-speed video camera to study each action of the drop as it fell into the glass bowl of water and formed a bubble.  We found from our experiment that higher was better.  The greater the distance from the water, the more likely the drop was to form a bubble when it actually hit the water.  Other factors that affect bubble formation include surface area of the target, and the oscillation of the drop when it hit the surface of the water.
